Description

The botanical garden of Nice has a particularity, it reconstructs Mediterranean geographical areas. You will then be able to discover elements from Greece, Macaronesia, southwestern Australia, California and northwestern Mexico, South Africa, etc. The botanical garden offers you a scientific, educational, ecological and cultural journey to discover the splendors of the flora of the five continents. Stroll through these areas as if you were there since the different ecosystems, that is to say all the physical conditions of the environment, associated with the plant formations they shelter are restored to the maximum of the possible. It was in May 1983 that the first plantations began from a collection of one hundred species held by the Nice natural history museum. The garden opened to the public in 1991, because the development of the park is closely linked to the rate of growth of the plants, all grown from seeds. This garden has 3 distinct labels: The Conservatory of Specialized Plant Collections (CCVS) since the Botanical Garden works against the disappearance of species and varieties of horticultural and botanical heritage and this biodiversity. The Remarkable Garden label, granted to parks and gardens open to the public that are of great interest in terms of history, aesthetics or even botany. The label of the Botanical Gardens of France and French-speaking countries which aims to improve the promotion of Botanical Gardens, the improvement of their knowledge, the exchange of ideas, experiences and collection plants and to participate in the conservation of plants and threatened biotopes, in all geographical areas, to act as a consultant in development projects involving the environment.
